COMMUNITY UPDATE – CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
We would like to update you on the current situation in relation to Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Eased quarantine requirements for close contacts
From 28 April 2022, quarantine requirements eased for close contacts who have no COVID-19 symptoms.
Some requirements (e.g. testing and mask wearing) continue to be in place.

Eased check-in and vaccination restrictions
On 14 April 2022, check-in and vaccination requirements in a range of venues ended, including:
- hospitality venues (pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants)
- entertainment venues (theme parks, cinemas, casinos and showgrounds)
- stadiums
- galleries, museums and libraries
- weddings.
Vaccination and check-in requirements will continue for:
- visitors and staff in vulnerable settings (hospitals, disability accommodation services and residential aged care)
- workers in high risk settings (schools, childcare, prisons and airports).

Current business restrictions
On 14 April 2022, vaccination and check-in requirements ended for the following businesses and venues:
- hospitality venues (e.g. hotels, pubs, clubs, taverns, bars, restaurants, cafes or dine-in at fast food (quick service) restaurants)
- indoor entertainment venues (e.g. nightclubs, live music venues, karaoke bars, concerts, theatres, cinemas, casinos)
- outdoor entertainment activities (e.g. sporting stadiums, theme parks)
- festivals – indoor or outdoor (e.g. musical festivals, folk festivals, arts festivals)
- activities – indoor or outdoor (e.g. convention centres, showgrounds)
- Queensland Government-owned galleries, museums or libraries
- weddings (only if all attendees are fully vaccinated).
The Check In Qld app is no longer required at these venues and businesses.
You do not need to check the vaccination status of customers, staff and other visitors to your venue or premises, and collect their contact information.
If you have your own vaccination requirements in place for your business, you can continue to ask for proof of vaccination status. This is not mandatory.

Businesses affected by a COVID-19 case
If your business is visited by a person who is COVID-19 positive, follow advice from Queensland Health for:
- closing and reopening
- cleaning requirements
- testing and quarantine for you and your staff.

Staff who are close contacts
From 28 April 2022, quarantine requirements for close contacts eased.
Staff members who are close contacts can attend work as long as they do not have COVID-19 symptoms.
Some requirements (e.g. testing and mask wearing) remain in place.

COVID Safe business planning
You must have plans in place that cover COVID-19 risks for the health and safety of your staff and customers.
All businesses must:
- encourage at least 1.5 metres space between staff and customers, and between individual customers or groups
- maintain good hand and respiratory hygiene
- conduct regular cleaning and disinfection
- send unwell staff home immediately. If they show any symptoms of acute respiratory disease, they need to get tested for COVID-19.
